Clicking "X", browser back or refresh browser does not help, must log off then back on. This happens when I am on a stock chart too, but usually responds in a few seconds, specifically, the slider indicator freezes - it will not keep up with the pointer.
Also I often get "Internet Exployer is not responding"
I keep a notebook on these computer problems. From my notes:
On 1-6-09, after opening web mail (earthlink - high speed cable), a small window came up saying "Error: Status Code is 12029. I get this often.
On 1-12-09 computer froze up. Error: 0800710dd "the operation identifier is not valid".
On 1-13-09, "Parameter is incorrect" 080070057
1-21-09 In the middle of some important work, I got a message that said "windows exployer has stopped working" then "shutting down" without any way to stop it. Please help!
