Hi, I'm currently trying to upgrade my desktop from Vista Ultimate 32-bit installation to a 64-bit installation (using the disk that came with the box), however have encountered a problem.
1. As you can't install a 64-bit from within windows I restarted my PC and booted from the 64-bit disc
2. I entered the Product Key and clicked next
3. I 'custom (advanced)' install which was the only one available.
However when it goes to the next stage asking for the drive you wish to install to it gives me the message ' To use the product key you entered, tart the installation on a computer that is running a genuine version of windows'. I understand that this must be because my disc is an upgrade edition however it won't let me install from within Windows because it doesn't recognise the set-up .exe.
Is their a work around for this or am I stuck to 32-bit unless I wish to buy a new copy of windows?
Help much appreciated.
