My computer is just over one year old and was working fine and dandy until about a month ago. Now, it is extremely slow even at startup. When I try to run any data intensive applications they either run really slowly or not at all. Even when my daily anti-virus scan is running, the computer cannot handle any other applications running. I have over 200GB free on my hardrive so I can't understand what the problem is.
I regulary run my anti-virus, schedule a defrag, and do all the usual maintenance work. I look at the task manager and the physical memory (MB) sates that:
Total: 1917
Cached: 968
Free: 10
Kernel Memory (MB)
Total: 164
Paged: 97
Nonpaged: 66
and processes stand at 66, and phyiscal memory at 60%. Though I don't understand how I have 66 processes as all I have open is itunes, task manager and IE.
Also, when I try to play football manager the game says that the game is out of virtual memory and that I need to close the application and free up some virtual memory and re-start the application.
Can anyone please help?
