I'm trying to help a friends dad fix up their MSI VR700 notebook, the current OS install wont boot.

I have set bios to boot from cd and when I boot I get the prompt to press any button to boot from cd, sounds like it starts to check out the system then goes to a blank screen and the cd rom just keeps spinning, left it for a good 30 minutes and stayed the same.

There doesn't seem to be any problem with WinXP Pro CD, looks as good as new with no scratches etc. I tried it in my own PC just to see where it would get to, seems to start the install process properly.

It's strange symptom, never seen this before any ideas?
