I have vista home premium on a 1.6 hz dual core with 1 gig of ram Everything was fine for the first 18 mths I had the system. Now I keep getting a message that updates can't be checked for. Also when I manually try to update receive error...

I have vista home premium on a 1.6 hz dual core with 1 gig of ram
Everything was fine for the first 18 mths I had the system.
Now I keep getting a message that updates can't be checked for.
Also when I manually try to update receive error messages primarily 80244019 and 80072EFE (both unknown error messages)
When I try to access the microsoft update site I get a message saying that site is not on the server.
Can anyone please help me.
