Thanks for maintaining this site, I just found it and really appreciate the volunteer work.

My problem is that IEXPLORE.EXE gets an error when I try to launch it (0xc0000142), so I can't use Internet Explorer. This wouldn't be a problem, and I've been living with it a long time, except that I'm concerned it's preventing Windows Update from working. Windows Update gets an "unknown error" (Code 80244019) while trying to search for new updates. Either way, I figured it was time to try to fix IE. I've had a spate of virus infections lately, so my system is pretty worked over, though it appears to be clean now.

I looked for similar problems before posting, and there were a couple threads out there, but the admins tailored their responses to the specific 'hijackthis' reports of the posters and warned others not to follow the same advice they gave, so I thought I should post a fresh inquiry. Still, if there's another thread you think would help me fix the problem, I would be happy to get the link.
