Yesterday, while I was working, the network icon in the notification area suddenly disappeared. I went into "Taskbar and Start Menu properties" to re-enable it, but I found that the check was removed from "Network" and the checkbox has been disabled. So I can't do that anymore.

I wanted to try method three in this tutorial, but I found that I don't even have the "explorer" folder under "policies" in the registry!

Any ideas what's going on? I'm using Vista Home Premium
