I have only had this computer for a week(

), and today was the first time I attempted to use the dvd player to watch a movie. It defaults to Quck-Play. The remote control that came with the computer is a nice piece of art, but, does nothing. I manually opened the dvd loader by pressing the button, put the disk in and closed it. It began whirring and the word "loading" appeared on the screen. Then I got a screen asking which region I was using my computer in, and I clicked on "no change" since it defaults to North America. As soon as I clicked on "no change" the whirring ceased and the disk ejected. Sometimes it went as far as reading the movie title, but, most of the time it did not recognize that a disk had been loaded. I attempted to use the pressure sensitive controls at the top of the keyboard, but, since the volume control never worked at all, I can't tell if any of them are. YIKES!!! I was so excited to get my new computer, and now I feel like I am driving a junker. I did check the Quck-Play Manager to make sure it was not set for "password". I have not called HP yet- I have heard so many horror stories about their customer service, I thought I would ask here first. Can anyone help? Thanks a huge amount!! (PS: HP's "instruction video" for using the dvd player is comical. Members of a happy family smile and point at various things while music plays. Not a word is spoken, and no instructions appear on the screen. Huh??)
