My wife discovered that her HP PC with Windows Vista would not let her install her newest version of Wordperfect from the installation CD. When she inserted the CD it did nothing. No noise, no spinning etc ..... Is it visable under "My Computer" and the Device Manager but it will not read nor write data.
I used Windows Explorer to try and view the contents of various types of CD's but again nothing happened nor was visable. I bought an external CD drive and while Vista detected that new hardware had been installed, it would not work either. I was able to install both the external CD drive and its' software on my Windows XP machine.
I ran read and write diagnostics against both drives successfully. At this point I am at a loss. I am guessing that the problems exists in Windows and not the CD drive itself. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
