My daughters laptop is not booting up. I can access the boot menu, but on turning it on I get the following message:- 'a disk read error occured'. I loaded the recovery disc and ran a repair. The laptop advised me that the 'boot sector for...

My daughters laptop is not booting up.
I can access the boot menu, but on turning it on I get the following message:-
'a disk read error occured'.
I loaded the recovery disc and ran a repair.
The laptop advised me that the 'boot sector for system disk partition is corrupt'
The repair action is boot sector repair.
The operating system is VISTA
Any ideas how I go about fixing this please?
