I am wanting to play my dvds and listen to my mp3s. I have had Ubuntu installed since 07, but have not been online with it or done much with it. I have dialup, and havn't been able to get on the internet with dialup with linux. I am wanting to know...

I am wanting to play my dvds and listen to my mp3s. I have had Ubuntu installed since 07, but have not been online with it or done much with it. I have dialup, and havn't been able to get on the internet with dialup with linux. I am wanting to know how to get the codecs and plugins i need by downloading em on my sisters vista using a 1 gig memory stick, and taking it over to my computer. on linux Ubuntu. Gusty gibbons i believe. and how to install.
