I have "Office 2002" installed. I have used all modes, except "Power Point," over the years without any difficulties. I finally had a use for "PP;" however, when I try to open the program my laptop becomes un-usable- the curser turns to the...

I have "Office 2002" installed. I have used all modes, except "Power Point," over the years without any difficulties. I finally had a use for "PP;" however, when I try to open the program my laptop becomes un-usable- the curser turns to the 'hourglass' and that is the end of it. I have to shut down using the power switch. Am I being too impatient?

Could there be a conflict with one or more of my startup programs? These are very limited in number, but include a firewall, "AV," etc.
