Programs to quick convert 720p MKV to Xbox360/PS3 video!
Either of these 2 programs can quickly convert 720p/1080p .MKV to Xbox360/PS3 playable .MP4 video in as quickly as 20-40 minutes for a 2-4GB 720p .MKV movie on a modern computer! This is because the video quality is untouched and they only reencode the audio to create a compatible .MP4 video for the consoles. They work for converting a majority of .MKV videos, although there are a few .MKV releases out there that currently don't convert properly or at all. Also, any video over 4GB needs to be split by the converter for the video to be recognized on the consoles. In my experience, videos converted for Xbox 360 also work for PS3! So if you want a universally compatible conversion, convert to Xbox 360. Here is a quick plus and minuses comparison between the 2 converters:
XenonMKV: Xbox 360 .MKV converter only
+ fast conversion
+ convert any size .MKV
+ has user forum for Q&A and movie compatibility list
+ lets you specify a split point in the movie
- no PS3 specific conversion
