I've read through the posts and haven't seen a problem exactly like this. I have an over 2GB pst file, but my email DOES open. I can read my emails, go through folders, but can't delete or download new email. I get the "...outlook.pst could not be accessed" msg. The folder size button unfortunately says the pst file is just over 2GB. (wish I knew this was gonna be a problem, would have deleted stuff before, ugh)
I right clicked on properties of email personal folders and followed the path of where it says the pst file is using explorer. It's not there??! only a locked/read only folder? I tried unlocking, but still no access, and no see a file (yes, I have admin rts). And weirdly I noticed that I tried to open an attachment in an email, got the "can't access" msg, and now I can't see any emails at all in that folder, but I see the email count for that folder still shows. so I think the email is there, but just can't be seen now.
Should I try "compact now" button under the properties of personal folders in outlook? I'm afraid if I do, I'll only get the error msg "can't access" again and maybe damage my pst file. I'm so afraid of losing my email file at this point. can anyone help?
Thanks!
Kate
