My friend brought a replacement laptop. I am helping to setup the new laptop. She has the the original MS Office 2003 for Small Office CDs and has bought the MS Office 2007 Home and Student. I loaded the Outlook and Publisher 2003 to the Acer, went to MS and loaded SP3, then loaded Office 2007 Home and Student (which does not have Outlook or Publisher). Here are my problems:
1. Autocorrect and auto detection of language (so that Outlook will use the correct dictionary) are not working: I see that autocorrect is a problem with SP3 and since my Outlook and Word are different version, I don't have an option to use Word as an editor. So, I downloaded HotFix 945430. There is no instruction on how to run the Hotfix, so, I tried both options on the Hotfix: finding and fixing the Office install and installing Office. I still have the same 2 problems. So, I uninstall Office 2003 and 2007 using the remove program tool in the Control Panel, then reinstall Office 2003 (Word and Publisher only) and installed Office 2007 Home and Student edition. The problems still persist. Is this a problem because the laptop has Outlook 2003 and Word 2007?
2. Before uninstalling Office 2003 and 2007, I had added a signature to Outlook. The signature has a small bmp and some text. At first, the bmp was not showing up on the email (as if the image was missing, showed just a box and the name) and the signature had double spaces. I editted it using Word 2007 and everything seemed OK. But, after reinstalling 2003 and 2007, I noticed the bmp is not showing up again. I tried everything (even copying the signature from the old laptop to the new laptop)...no luck. Like before, the signature looks fine when I am looking at it in the Signature dialog. However, once it is inserted into the email, the bmp does not show. What is going on?
These problems are driving me up the wall.
