To Disable (or Enable) the Self-defense, open ESET, press keyboard <F5>, select <Antivirus and antispyware>,
UNCHECK (or CHECK) the <Enable Self-defense>, <OK>, and <OK> and Restart the computer.

This fix will cause the Virus signature database not to show in the ESET tray message box.
You can check it in the ESET User Interface though.

Make sure that you [Unlock] ESET before uninstalling it.
