Visa to egypt - please explainAs Salam Alaikom! I don't know in which forum should I cathegorized this thread. Since this is my first post, I'd rather put this in the "Acquaintance."
I am a Filipino who wished to visit Egypt ever since I was in high school. I am deeply fascinated with your historical backrounds, and with that, had a high respect on your country. Right now, I am in UAE holding a residence visa and working as a professional nurse in a reputable government hospital in Dubai. Still having a desire to visit and see your country, I requested for a week holiday MERELY FOR THAT REASON - that is, to visit Egypt. I planned to arrange my tour with a travel agency here but asked me to get a visa first from a consulate. So to speak, I went there with all the necessary documents required. I handed over my papers to the assigned personnel. He scanned over those documents and with a displeasing face, he looked at me and said " we don't give visa!" I pleaded him to tell me the reason (as I thought I had the right to know) but he didn't look at me anymore like he didn't hear me at all - a solid manifestation of disrespect. I repeated my question and again, without looking at my face, he simply said " because of your job." That remark really surprised and annoyed me. What's wrong with my profession?? I have a bachelor's degree in nursing and I love my job. It's a noble and decent profession. Besides, I earn eight (8) thousand dirhams a month if that what really matters. I have been to different countries but nobody has ever questioned my profession. My respect to Egypt suddenly turned into dismay. That personnel's remark is a concrete proof of insult to the nurses like me. What harm can a one nurse do to Egypt? All I needed is to visit and spend my money in Egypt for a mere three days. Until now, I don't find a logical answer on why nurses are denied of the visa to Egypt. The world has the right to know too. Or is it about racism? Well, that's another thing. Any idea? May God bless Egypt! |

Thanks Sabrawy, for taking a time replying to this lengthy post.
I have been to Egyptian consulate here twice and I can say that the people there are not really accommodating. They are hard even to their fellow Egyptians. Try to visit our consulate in your country and I assure you that you can find smiling faces there. Anyway, I've changed my path. I just went to Syria - never had any problem in their consulate here. They are nice - a good representation of their own country. I don't have a plan of going to Egypt anymore. What I have experienced in the consulate here is enough - I saw Egypt in them. Anyway, thanks again, Sabrawy. Last edited by everyrock; 21-02-2008 at 11:11 AM. |

If you are an Egyptian, hope that all the Egyptians are friendly as you are and happy to share your culture with others regardless of race, creed and status in life. We constantly have Egyptian patients and everytime I look at them, I remember my repugnant experience with the Egyptian embassy here. But as a person who has an obligation and a passion to take care of the sick people and as a person who believes in one God, I look at every individual as the same. If your government is denying the filipino nurses to visit your country, all I can say is "MAY GOD BLESS EGYPT." I will still take good care of my Egyptian patients and I will always be happy with that. Last edited by everyrock; 25-02-2008 at 11:13 AM. |

It is really bad dealing with your Egyptian Consulate here in Dubai.. Instead of helping people they doing the other way around. I was supposed to went to Egypt for only six days for my egagement. this coming March 18. I dont have a plan to stay there for long time as both me and my habibi are having nice job here in UAE.
I went to the consulate to process my visa.. I am presently working as Admin Assistant earning good salary. I am even willing to show my bank statement as proof that I can sustain my trip to Egypt. But to my dismay they just look at my residence visa profession and not even bother to look at the other attachment. which was including my Letter of intent, No Objection Letter from my company, Salary Certificate. It was written in my Residence Visa as File Clerk instead of Admin Assistant because my documents were left in the Philippines. I am really really disappointed with your consulate here in dubai... there is a racial discrimination. Hope not all egyptian are like them. |

Yeah, that's really so funny. I've been to Poland, Germany, Hongkong, Kuwait, Singapore, Bahrain, Dublin ( to attend my brother's wedding), Brunei, Syria and many other countries as I love to travel. And of all the places, only Egypt denied me of visa! What a heck!!! And for the record, of all the consulates and embassies I have visited, I can say that the Egyptian consulate here in Dubai has the only UNFRIENDLY staff. They don't deserve to be in the frontline as the representatives of your country (unless all the Egyptians are like them). Your government must be alerted as people from different nations "see Egypt in them."
Anyways, I'm not dreaming of going to Egypt anymore. Come on! With those kind of people in the consulate, what would I lose??? |
