INTEL, Egypt sign deal for motherboards factory

Egypt’s Ministry of Information reported that the world's biggest chipmaker,
Intel Corp signed a deal with an
Egyptian company on Monday to build the first factory to
produce motherboards in
Africa
85 percent of the production will be exported to regional and
African markets, the
Egyptian ministry said, adding that the
Egyptian factory will provide between 400 and 600 new jobs over the next two years, the statement said.
It did not disclose the cost of the deal.
The agreement was signed by
Intel Chairman Craig Barrett,
Tareq Eissa, chairman of the
Egyptian company BORAQ for
Electronic Industries, and the state-run
Information Technology Industry Development Agency, it said.
