Hello,
I need some help stopping the disconnecting. Its very anoying.
As the title states, my PC is disconnecting from the BT Home Wireless Hub.
It doesn't do this all the time and from what I can gather it only disconnects when downloading/uploading some amounts of data. Specifically Playing MMO's (EVE-Online, Tibia, Star Sonata, WoW) and Downloads.
Network Adapter Zoom Wireless-G USB adapter (192.168.1.64)
I have the latest drivers for this device and the hub is working fine.
The usb adapter is on a 3M Belkin USB Extension cable.
The Hub is on the other side of the house and on the second floor.
The understanding I have is that it disconnects due to low signal strength, but I have a strength of 30-40% most of the time, lowest being 10%. Link Quality always sits between 40%-100%.
Example: When I load EVE-Online Client, the client gets the status of the server cluster (online + number of players or offline, etc) This is when it starts to disconnect.
The connection just drops no matter what the link quality or signal strength. This happens constantly every 2 minutes.
Tedious solution for the random disconnection: when the ZoneAlarm Icon (my firewall) stops showing the data traffic of the connection, click Apply on the Zoom Wireless-G application. It looks like this refreshes the connection.
Parts of the setup for my PC that I cannot change.
- Location of the PC and BT Home Hub (Hub is directly connected into the business computer and laptop dock, PC is in my room)
- Having the usb adapter connected directly into the computer (i cannot get a signal to the hub on any port due to the amount of objects between them)
