Hello,
Let me start bys aying that I'm sorry if this question was asked before but I haven't been able to find a response that solved my problem.
I am running 2 PCs. One of which is running Vista and the other XP. I do all my downloads on the Vista computer, but I'm using my XP as a media center (New HDTV gets here tomorrow morning :-D).
My problem is that the Vista PC can see and modify the XPs share folders but I can't access the Vista computer through the XP one which I would very much like to do in order to be able to play files that i have on my downloads computer straight on the TV without copying them to the media center.
In the beginning, when I would try to access the Vista PC through the Xp it would prompt me for a user name and password, I tried my luck a few times and then it stopped asking and now every time I try to access it I get:
"\\(compname) is not accessible. You might not have the permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator bla bla bla.
Logon failure: the user has not been granted the request logon type at this computer.
That is with the Vista's password turned on. The problem is that it won't prompt me for usename and password anymore, just give me this error straight ahead. If I turn the password off on Vista, I manage to get into the computer and see the folders that I'm sharing (The G drive and Alice Cooper Discography in my case) but when I try to access either of them I get the same first line as before (YOu might not have permission, talk to the admin etc. and the second line says "Access is denied".
I have tried everything I could think of and I've been going at it for hours so I was wondering if I could get some help from you nice people:-)
Thanks a lot for your time,
Best regards,
Ben.
