Several times a day I get a pop-up balloon (so does my wife) indicating that "There is an I.P. Address Conflict with another system on the network." Also several times a day the Belkin Wireless G router needs to be turned on and off to re-establish the connection to our Cable Modem.
I have 3 desktop systems running XP SP3, an XBox, a Cable Modem, the Belkin Wireless G Router, and a wired Ethernet Network running to the 3 desktops and the XBox. The wireless router is sometimes (infrequently) used with my laptop. Oh, and sometimes my son connects with his iPhone to the internet.
What is the I.P. address conflict all about?
Why does the wireless router wired to the modem need to be rebooted?
I have never understood how to set-up encryption so the connection is open. Could an I.P. address conflict be caused by a neighbor using the wireless connection?
Thanks!
