I've scoured the internet for answers, but wireless problems are so vast that I can't pinpoint the answer to my problem. This is what happened:
1. Internet and computer working fine as usual.
2. Windows Updater offered to update with Service Pack 1
3. I confirmed
4. After the computer restarted, I tried to go about my business.
5. NO INTERNET CONNECTION.
6. Uninstalled the Service Pack, restarted. Still no connection.
7. Rolled back to when SP1 was initially installed. Nothing.
I noticed that when I flick my WiFi switch it doesn't show the "wifi" logo, but it does show the cursor recognizes I did something. Also, when I went into the Dell Wireless utility, it said something about it may not be working properly. What's more, when I investigated why my wireless wasn't working, it said that the drivers may be out of date or incompatible. I tried installing the last remaining 'important' update, the Windows .Net update, but it failed every time.
Interesting to note (yet probably unimportant), I had to uninstall zonealarm after the SP1 update because True Vector Monitor had drivers that didn't work with 'this version of windows'. Before I uninstalled, I could see the Wifi logo and it detected the network, but couldn't connect. After I uninstalled zonealarm, no wireless connections available at all. Whatever that means...
So somehow this service pack did something that disabled/messed up my wireless -- and now I don't know what to do! I am running Windows Home Vista Premium, and am using an B/G/N Draft wireless chip from Broadcom/Dell.
Help would be awesome... please
