Pretty much like the title implies I am just learning about the uses of a console cable and wondering if it is possble to use a console cable this is a console cable.

I am just wondering because my friend has a really old laptop and I am trying to make a lan with him and his computer has no rj45 ports so looking for options was looking into all kinds of things so if some one has another solution that would be cool only other thing he has on the computer would be a DB9 Female/DB25 and a Phone jack.
In summary I am pretty much looking to make a lan with a old *** computer was wondering how it was done a few years back.
