I am trying to help a family member who was given a hard drive to put into their computer and to then to mirror the 2nd hard drive to protect against data/files being lost, as has happened in the last two crashes.
I installed the 2nd hard drive and then went into Asus.com and downloaded ProbeII and the manual for mirroring.
OS is XP. Motherboard is M2N MX SE PLUS, computer is AMD 64 x 2 Dual Core, speed 3100 MHz.
I managed to get as far as (from Pgs 109-116 of the pdf manual) setting up for mirroring w/stripping. I highlighted both drives and added to the array disk. Was informed that the status was "Healthy", and so, I clicked on Ctrl X to save changes and exit. Next I clicked on "rebuild" and then selected the 2nd hard drive, and clicked Ctrl 7, followed by enter to continue rebuilding. Then I was asked if I wanted to delete array, and I clicked on No. I also clicked on No to deleting the disk data. At this point, I don't know what happened, but the computer rebooted and asked for the original os disk. This is a new computer and this individual was not given a disk w/the new system (in the process of trying to acquire the disk from the computer builder).
Anyway, the computer is now looping, and nothing can be accessed. I've tried going into safe mode, safe w/networking, safe w/command prompt, starting normally, and last known good config. Nothing works, it appears to be starting up normally, but a blue screen flashes quickly after the "Windows" screen, and then goes back to insert disk & press any key to continue.
Any suggestions as to how to resolve these issues, other than obtaining a OS disk?
Thank you, in advance, for your time
