I bought a Presario V6741US Notebook PC in June of 2008 with Windows xp. Everytime I try to record anything, the mics don't detect enough sound to make a decent recording. All the possible settings for mics are turned up all the way. I have the mic boost on, as well, to no avail. I know the mics themselves are not the problem. Neither are the speakers. For instance, I can make IM video calls with no problem. I can sit back and speak normally, and they hear me perfectly. However, when I try to send a voice clip, I get the warning, "your voice clip was not sent because no sound was detected in the recording." It only works if I put my mouth right up to the mic (chin on screen), and then it comes across quietly. I've used "total recorder / high criteria" to transfer recordings to my computer in WAV files, but they were so quiet, I can't turn the volume up loud enough to hear them properly. Recently I transfered some video tapes, via the "honestech VHS to DVD 3.0" with the same lousy sound results. I unistalled and reinstalled the Realtek drivers, but that didn't change a thing. I saw today that this problem has been shared by people at least as far back as 2006. Has anybody solved it?
