i have installed a 512 MB RAM on a PC. but it reports 348 in my computer properties. it also reports the same in task manager. i also tried two other RAM chips in the same slot but the same problem happens. it always is less by 128 mb. it has an on...

i have installed a 512 MB RAM on a PC. but it reports 348 in my computer properties. it also reports the same in task manager. i also tried two other RAM chips in the same slot but the same problem happens. it always is less by 128 mb. it has an on board video card. the RAM slot is bad. i tried the RAM in another PC and its working fine.
the ram and cpu speeds are the same.
what could be the reason this is happening.
