So every once in a while my PC will change to the Windows 98 theme (gray menus, etc) and my connection will be automatically lost. The only way to connect back to the internet is to restart the entire PC. I've tried searching all around and have...

So every once in a while my PC will change to the Windows 98 theme (gray menus, etc) and my connection will be automatically lost. The only way to connect back to the internet is to restart the entire PC. I've tried searching all around and have tried using tons of software and NOTHING works. I don't have the CDs that came with my PC otherwise I would have restored anything by now.

Edit: I'm using Windows XP HE SP1.
