Running a two PC network, 1 dell dimension 8250 desktop and 1 HP/Compaq presario v2000. Both connect through an actiontec mi424wi router to verizon.net. On Monday, the desktop stopped connecting to the internet - mostly. The laptop is still connected with no problem. The desktop will connect in safe mode, will ping (the laptop and other sites by IP and name) in normal mode and services that depend on open ports will work - Thunderbird e-mail works fine. Just for fun, I started AOL and it found an old PPP connection, made itself a new internet connection and connected. However IE, FF3, Opera, etc. all time out.

Tried everything I could think of, then broke down and called MS support. Three days of trying this and that have not done much but return me to SP2 (repair option) with no security updates, no McAfee security, no spysweeper, and a list of services I am no longer sure should be running, auto, manual or disabled. More "help" promised on Sunday.

Have been down the line with ipconfig, used winsock repair utilities, scanned with malware bytes, defender, etc. Updated Intel ethernet adapter driver and checked the connection with their utility. Reset router. Nothing makes a difference. Posting Hijack this below in hopes someone spots something before I have to wipe out 3 years of comfortable PC settings with a fresh install. At least I have my documents backed up. Thanks -- Jim W.
