Please can you help?
1. Ever since I switched to TalkTalk my router will not permit uploads to the internet. For that I have to unplug everything and use the Smart wired modem supplied. Some bright spark at Level 2 at TalkTalk support, who was into building websites, said it was something to do with an access port?? D Link customer service can't help, in fact they don't understand the question.
2. Please could you confirm the settings I should have? (This was asked at the TalkTalk users' forum, but unfortunately was not answered. I guess Americans will not be able to help!)
3. What bit of kit do I need to purchase to make my desktop computer wireless enabled? At the moment I have the ethernet cable in it, but if I want to eliminate virtually all house wiring and use the master socket, then I will need to use only wireless, because of the geography of my house. (I've been having a lot of trouble with an intermittent connection.)
4. Using the laptop wirelessly, I find that if the laptop is hibernated overnight, then in the morning somehow the settings have been forgotten and I have to use the Assist and Go wizard to get connected again. It seems the IP changes from dynamic to fixed??? and sometimes there are problems with the TC stack (not exact name, can't remember it....).
5. I've just been reading about firmware, but couldn't find anything on the dlink site to download or check it.
Both laptop and desktop are on XP.
Please don't get too techie with me, take it slowly!!
