Afternoon all,
I'm having difficulty accessing a DNS-323 drive that my office uses as a shared drive. For whatever reason, everyone in my office can access it, except me.
According the employees, they've told me that they didn't have to install anything (firmware or drivers), and that it works like a PlugNPlay. However, I can't gain access to it. I've done a lot of troubleshooting, but have not been successful in getting through.
Another employee in the office has the same ethernet (Realtek RTL-8168(P)/8111C(P) Family PCI-E GBE NIC) -and wireless (Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN) adapters. We both have the exact same network settings (WORKGROUP, Private network, discoverability, etc.), and yet he has access and I don't.
He is running an Asus laptop, while I'm using a Compaq. I've already checked with Compaq to see if they had anything on this issue, but found nothing.
I had already tried to install the driver software (as provided by the D-Link website), but my the installation could never complete (for some unknown system error, as always), and then I had to do system restore on my laptop as it couldn't shut down.
I've also tried to manually connect to the drive with both IP Address and folder location: None worked. I tried to install it as a new device: Didn't work. I tried using the provided EasySetup disc that they use to setup the drive: I was able to see the drive through the program, but the Network drive wouldn't display it.
Any tips?
