trying to do some diagnostics on my computer and I've hit a brick wall.
Came home and the computer was on but nothing was on the monitor. Assuming the computer reset itself and then nothing.
Reset the computer and it started but wouldn't post. Disconnected the computer and pulled out the video card and re-seated it. No change. Pulled the ram out and it posted, with one long beep followed by two quick beeps (phoenix 686 bios). Tired different ram in different slots. No change. Put one ram chip back in and pulled the video card out. still posts. Pulled everything out (ie HDD the lot) posts no different.
Tested the power supply with my multimeter, 3.3 5 and 12 volts all present. Additionally CPU fan runs although was dusty when first opened.
At the moment I'm thinking its most likely the CPU as the Mobo posts which means its accessing the BIOS (am I correct here) so in theory it should be working. Therefore its most likely the CPU would this be correct. If anyone has any further suggestions I'm all ears.
