I do have a question, if anyone knows any thing about the optiplex GX620 super small system. I have one of these , it does not have an optical drive, it only has a hard drive, which is new and not formatted. I have no way to install an OS on it. I have contacted Dell about 101 times trying to get a cable to connect an optical drive. I bought an Optical drive from them, but it did not come with a cable. I worked thru tech support, gave them the service tag number, they gave me a cable part number to order and I did buy it, but it is wrong, will not connect to the mother board. I have taken the system to several private computer repair shops and they looked at it and said they have never seen an IDE connection like that. So I am lost, Dell does not seem know and no one else seems to know what type of cable I need. It almost looks like some type of daughter card or adapter card would plug onto the IDE connection to allow a normal IDE ribbon cable to connect. It really looks like a connection you would see on the outside of a system, not on a mother board. Since it only has that one wierd connection I was thinking the adapter card would have a splitter so I could install a optical and a Floppy drive to it. But for now it is a door stop. I can get a picture of the connector on the mother board, but Dell tech does not work that way, so they will not help. Any Idea where I could go from here. If I could find a good manual or parts list I would have a better shot. Anyway, Thanks in advance for any help or advice.
If a picture will help let me know and I can send it.
