Hi,
I have been asked to set up a network drive for my employers. We have two sites - one in London and one in Birmingham. The main site (London) has a VPN server which we (Birmingham) dial in to. They also have a shared storage drive on their local network (which of course is therefore also accessible to us when connected to the VPN).
The drive however is very slow over the VPN due to their uplink. So they would like me to setup a drive here which we can use as our primary shared storage. But, it needs to be accessible to the London server too, for backup purposes.
I thought it would be easy but I can see a snag. If we buy something like
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/139061 then it can't connect to the VPN independently. Our desktops all dial in separately.
How can I get the network drive to connect to the VPN? Are there drives which have a dialing capacity? If not, is there some way I can connect our entire network to the VPN server rather than just each system individually?
This is the first time I've had to deal in-depth with VPNs so any help would be much appreciated. I have almost complete flexibility with settings / software / hardware but buying an expensive new router is not an option.
Thanks!
