I am having Adobe trouble. I can't get any PDF's downloaded or printed. I did a system's restore 2 weeks ago and think it did something to Adobe. My Adobe reader does not work and when I have tried to reinstall Reader 9, it says that it can't...

I am having Adobe trouble. I can't get any PDF's downloaded or printed. I did a system's restore 2 weeks ago and think it did something to Adobe. My Adobe reader does not work and when I have tried to reinstall Reader 9, it says that it can't install (goes up to 88% then stops)due to previous Adobe. The error message I get when I try to download a PDF is "The Adobe Reader that is running cannot be used to view PDF files in a web browser." Exit Adobe and try again." Any ideas?
Geek squad told me over the phone that I could not just unistall Reader 8 when I asked if that would solve the problem. Thanks
