sorry, could not find any forum dedicated to internet usage aspects in Egypt
as you may know, situation with broadband internet has changed recently: providers are pushing their users to move from unlimited to quoted tariffs (read this, for example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broadba...ccess_in_Egypt)
i'm using one of small internet providers, reselling services from TEDATA (as i can see from the static IP i have). the company i was signing contract with actually went bankrupt and i was sold to another company, and as i may see from my account their prices are 2 times higher then the ones of TEDATA, so i would like to move to the major provider. is it possible to do it without loosing my internet connection for long time?
also what do you think about their efforts to limit internet usage for unlimited users? at least they should give equal price for the limited subscribtion (1Mb limited has only 10Gb quote so 100Gb/month will cost me 1050LE - compare to 220LE for unlimited subscription)
you can read their "fair use" policy here:
http://www.tedata.net/new/MultiMedia...rUsePolicy.pdf

I want to change my ISP which is currently LinkDotNet. It proved to be the most unreliable ISP ever. I subscribed for a 512/128 but the actual download speed is under 20 because the line is always down; check my diary. Their technical support staff are terrible and they could not handle their routers, DSLAMs problems because they didn't have a proper training. I am paying for 512 while actually getting a dial up like service. After 3 months I will join a new ISP, please recommend one for me.

Well for starters i would stay as fr away as possible from Egynet.. Those guys r uber Terrible... they rob u from ur connection speed after 1 month of usage... i got a 1mgb connection speed and my download limit is 90 kbs :/... and there customer service is way worse than link.net + they're very rude...

My recommendation from what i heard is the best would be Tedata... they're ok.. they limit ur D/L speed a little bit but not by far like Egynet or Link.net.. around 110-120 Kbs D/L for a 1mgb connection speed... Also they have the least downtime when it comes to repairs and such... there cons would be they still lack professional customer support - Upload speeds r the worst amongst all ISP's in egypt (around 12 Kbytes U/L for a 512 kbs connection speed)... and last would be they're server pings r high... if ur into online gaming u'll notice higher pings than usual... thats abt all... i tried all the ISP's u can find in egypt .. and they all steal ur cash and suck... but the best guys that hide it r Tedata
