(BEIJING, August 2) -- Olympic delegations have been arriving every day since the Olympic Village opened on July 27. As more and more people move in, the Village is becoming busier and busier. Recently, the New Zealand delegation added more noise to the Village with a unique cultural display.
When the New Zealand field hockey team entered the Olympic Village, they were welcomed with a traditional Maori Poi dance. The dancers (who are members of the New Zealand delegation that had previously arrived in Beijing) simultaneously slapped their body with their hands, while stomping in rhythmic unison. The dance attracted many passersby and followers who mimicked the movements from behind the dancing New Zealanders.
