Australia golden in Men's Pair

(BEIJING, August 16) -- Australia's Drew Ginn and Duncan Free earned gold in the Men's Pair by finishing in 6:37.44, while Scott Frandsen and David Calder of Canada won silver with a time of 6:39.55. Nathan Twaddle and George Bridgewater from New Zealand, who finished in 6:44.19, won bronze.
"We just knew that if we just kept driving and we just kept pushing that we could do something," said Drew Ginn after winning gold. "It wasn't a great row at times, but with 400 meters to go, we just needed to keep going. And you can see that there's a lot of love here now."
The Canadians set the early pace and were first through the halfway point, but they fell behind Australia at the 1500m mark. The Australians held the lead through the final sprint and finished the race two seconds faster than Canada.
