I am on XP Home Edition and have a variation on the many "themes" problems already covered: I want to run the XP (Luna) theme, which I can set successfully, then shut down.

On restarting, the XP theme is still in place, but after 5 minutes I get a "Please Wait" window and the theme reverts to Classic.

Accepting this, I shut down, leaving the Classic theme in place: but every time I restart I still get the "Please Wait" window after 5 minutes.

I have done some checking, and Services/Themes is set to Auto and is running, My Computer/Properties/Advanced/Performance/Settings has both "use visual styles on windows and buttons" and "use common tasks in folders" are checked. I have applied kellys-korner-xp reg edits from lines 214 and 271 and nothing changes.

Is there a known virus which runs something after 5 minutes which perhaps turns off Themes temporarily, or does something which results in the system thinking I am changing themes?
