i have 3 pc's on my lan
named pc1, pc2, and pc3, all in the same workgroup called HOMENET
all xp pro service pack 3.
--simple file sharing is disabled on all pc's
--file and print sharing is enabled in tcp/ip properties
--firewall ok too.
--every pc can ping all others
(double checked all machines)
Pc1 can open and see all shares on pc2
Pc2 can open and see all shares on pc1
Pc 3 can open and see all shares on pc1
However
Pc1 cannot open or see shares on pc3 (usr/password prompts)
Pc2 cannot open or see shares on pc3 (usr/password prompts)
Pc3 cannot open or see shares on pc2 (usr/password prompts) (but can on pc1 **whack!**)
The only share on pc3 was created on its desktop
I even added the everyone perm to the folder, and everyone to the ntfs permissions. still no go.
Anyways....
Ive never had problems with this before and have setup shares at least 100 times or more, nor have ever had to setup extra user accounts on each machine to get shares to work.
Ive always just shared it.... then everyone could see it and access it.
I know i Could remove the "everyone" group, and force someone to use a password yes.
but thats not the right solution here (for me).
Half of it works, and half of it dont. hmm
