I have a HP Pavilion zd7000 that was running XP pro. The computer started having trouble downloading and then it stopped updating. At the Microsoft Update site every time I tried to update I received Unknown signature and was unable to update or download. I wiped hard drive with DBAN then reinstalled. I had the same problem, so I tried installing Opensuse 11.1. It installed to the basic install but when I tried to update repositories I received check sum errors and was unable to update. I have never used Linux but the errors seemed to be just like the errors in Windows. On either operating system installed on a wiped disk I am only able to do basic install and no updates or downloads. I can get online but nothing else.
