Hello there,
I work on a helpdesk, had a user call today, User is using XP Professional stating that when they select Start-> Shutdown -> Shutdown computer it just logs the user off instead of shutting down the computer. Essentially Start-> Shutdown -> Shutdown & Start-> Shutdown -> Log Off are performing the same function.
My colleagues aren't sure of an easy solution, their thoughts are a reinstall of Windows, i'm hoping for more of a simple setting/registry tweak or something. Any ideas? I failed however, to ask what happens when the user selects restart, so not sure what happens there.
I can remote to desktop and have admin rights if required.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, even though the user says they can live with it. It affects all users who logon to the computer also.
