I have Win XP SP2. 120 GB HDD. 512 + 256 DDR1 RAM. P4 Intel Pentium Processor 2.64Ghz.
Whenever I try to shutdown, it freezes at the screen" WIndows Is Shutting Down". I have to manually turn off the PC. But I have no problems restarting. The PC shuts down smoothly when I click restart and reboots back.
These are the things I have done to fix this problem:
I opened the registry and changed the following entries:
Changed "WaitToKillAppTimeout" to 1000.
Changed "HungAppTimeout" to 1000.
Changed "AutoEndTasks" to 1.
Changed "PowerDownAfterShutdown" to 1.
Changed "PowerOffActive" to 1.
Changed "PowerOffTimeOut" to 1.
I have very less programs running in my Task Manager, just 15-16 process. I used MSCONFIG to disable all startup programs. No firewall or Anti Virus. Computer is clean and has no Virus or Spywares.
Inspite of all these fixes. The problem still remains. Plz help
