Hey, guys. I'm new here and I could really use some advice or basically whatever you can tell me. If this question has already been asked, then I apologize. I did a search for it and couldn't find anything, though.
Okay, basically, at around 5 a.m. this morning my Windows (I have a Compaq running Windows XP Media Edition) decides to run the typical automatic Windows updates, were it eventually comes to the Windows blue loading screen (like when you first log-in) and previously, these automatic updates have finished with no problems at all, with relatively fast loading time. But this time around, it seems to be stuck or atleast loading very slowly...it's been at "Updates are being installed (3 of 3)..." for 7 hours now. I'm not sure what to do about this...if I should just wait it out, or turn off my computer. Because it's also telling me "Do not turn off your computer; it will turn off automatically." so I don't want to end up killing my entire system or something, since I didn't get a chance to back up all my files this morning before it tried to update.
I've heard some horror stories from friends saying they waited up to 12 hours for it to finish, and other's saying they just shut it off and it ended up ruining their system.
Given those two options, obviously, I would wait...But, I could really use some advice on what I should do here. Do I have any other options?
