Like millions of others I've always had problems w/Windows Explorer Settings. It long ago quit sorting by Name and constantly goes back to sorting by Date Modified-none of the "fixes" I've tried have worked and to make matters worse all my applications' Open Dialog boxes come up sorted by Date Modified. BUT I have given up on that.
HOWEVER, Explorer (Windows NOT IE) has now suddenly decided to revert to its own preferred settings
every time I reboot. It changes the size, the place where it opens, the sorting and the details - after I have painstakingly set them (most of them, it would take all day to correct them all) back to my liking. I keep several folders on my desktop w/shortcuts to programs inside - also set to my liking. Even they are changed each time I boot the system.
I've looked at the registry Bag MRU sizes and they are set at 5000 already. Any ideas that do not involve reinstalling Windows? Or never shutting down the computer?
