I am just in a mess ..
I decided to upgrade from XP Home to XP Pro thinking it was an easy operation, but ..
Under XP Home running I put the XP Pro CD into the reader and after some time I got a message that I was not allowed to upgrade. Now I dont remember exactly what dam .. choice I did, but the OS went on installing itself as a parallel OS on the same machine.
So now I have XP Pro, totally empty, and my old XP Home with all the files and programs.
I called MS helpdesk and they told me that the only way to make an easy installation of XP Pro, for me, is to format the HD and start from the scratch.
Frankly this means tree days work and a BIG question mark about the capability to find all the installs, registrations and keys for the programs I have now on XP Home.
As I have that version clean and running, with available registry and what else may be useful, I wonder whether some of you, may give me an hint to an easier solution.
Just to clarify: I was going to upgrade to obtain a more stable OS .. that's all.
Thanks
