I just bought a microphone for my computer so that I could record a brief spoken phrase. When I speak into the microphone, the little waveform window in the Sound Recorder box does not show any activity. When I've finished and I click on STOP, a message appears saying that the operation was unable to proceed because of insufficient memory, and I am then instructed to close other programs to free up memory and try again. Huh? I didn't start any other programs. I'm Looking at the desktop, I start Sound Recorder, I try to record something very short, and it tells me the memory's overloaded? And what about the signal signature? What are the chances that my brand-new mic is defective? Did trying to display the waveform also stretch the memory too thin as well? What the hell is going on with this program?
