Problem:
Last Tuesday's (Critical Update) Security Update for Windows XP (KB951748)
"A security issue has been identified that could allow a remote attacker to misrepresent a system action or behavior unbeknownst to users on Microsoft Windows systems. You can help protect your computer by installing this update from Microsoft."
Will initialize installation but...
WILL NOT INSTALL.
I have rebooted, run Spybot/Ad-aware and other Security scans just to rule out any Malware or other intrusionary cause but, with the same result (failed to install).
*Note that two other Updates along with this one installed with no problem.
Over the years I think I've only had one or two Updates which failed to install and these turned out to be caused by a problem at MS's end and new Updates were re-issued and installed successfully.
I've searched around to see if this is a universal problem but as far as I can tell it seems I may be the only one who has had difficulty trying to install this Update. Otherwise I'm not having any problems with my system.
Any suggestions?
