Running XP w/SP2 & 3. For the past month or so, Have been having terrible problems shutting down! Clicking on "Start" gives me an hourglass which sits there from 3-5 mins. Eventually, the closing options page appears. Clicking on any of the options, "Shutdown", "Standby" or "Hibernate" gives me the same action, an hourglass that hangs around seemingly forever before anything happens. Eventually, the machine will shut down. Usually, however, I've given up and shut it down using the power on/off button.
I've run every troubleshooting/maintenance program I can think of numerous times w/o any change, including restoring settings to dates prior to start of problem. Help!
