A few days ago my roommate's computer suddenly wouldn't boot into XP. Every time it gets to the loading screen with the XP logo it restarts. At start up it gives you the option to boot into Safe Mode, but that doesn't work either -- same problem.
I tried using the XP cd to run the Recovery Console, but I'm stuck at the point where it prompts you for the Administrator password. I've tried using both Hiren's and another password reset utility, but neither leaving it blank nor using 'password' is working.
Can someone help me out, please? I'm not real experienced at troubleshooting, and I don't know what else to do here short of re-installing the OS.
