Hi,
My wife has a Japanese Toshiba laptop, running Vista and it is just so slow. Recently I was using a work laptop that has 240mb ram compared to 2gb on my wifes and start up time was so quick. So I decided I would buy an xp, while I still can and format the hd and install windows from scratch. This would also mean that I wouldn't have any of the unnecessary bundled software than came with it and the OS would be better suited to the hardware.

I mentioned this idea to my friend who said that I ought to be careful because I would need lots of drivers, for the screen, keyboard, sound, video etc. He knows more about this than I do but I thought that I ought to get a few more opinions.

I found drivers for Toshiba computers easily enough but not for the Japanese ones unfortunately so I am a bit worried that I may make my wife's laptop unusable by trying my idea.
What do you think?
